on the occasion of Alpha Phi Omega’s 93rd International Foundation Day
My Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Let me greet you first with a firm handshake in Friendship, fellow Alpha Phi Omegans. Happy 93rd International Year! I am excited at the fact that our generation will live to see Alpha Phi Omega’s International Centennial celebrations, 7 years from now. Imagine that- our proud fraternal heritage will be 100 years old!
Having this much-awaited event in our mind, your National President, the National Board of Trustees and the National Executive Council have joined hands in a race to accomplish a lot of things in the pipeline during our term. However, we won’t talk about the works-in-progress as it is more important to talk about what we have achieved in the Philippines.
Transparency, Responsiveness and Accountability. We have made accounting and administrative records easily accessible to the general membership, through our institutionalized democratic processes. Transparency is meant to empower members to become thousands of auditors in organization and thereby eradicating corruption and any doubt about it. We are taking good housekeeping seriously as we know that inspiring active participation from more members and chapters will translate to successful projects and initiative.
Integrity as an Organization. We have maintained, protected, preserved and defended the integrity of the only legitimate Alpha Phi Omega in the Philippines. To date, we have visited, consulted and held fellowships with more than 200 collegiate chapters and alumni associations all over the country. The more recent attendance to Sydney Australia and New Zealand’s conference was a resounding success in many respects. We are all excited to attend and represent APO Philippines to the APO USA National Convention in Austin, Texas from December 27 to 30, 2018. Being THE ONLY APO NATIONAL ORGANIZATION IN THE PHILIPPINES DULY RECOGNIZED BY ALPHA PHI OMEGA INTERNATIONAL COUNCIL, the leadership is committed to continue along the path of unity, especially through the effective contribution of our members to the progress of their own chapters, and to the advancement of APO Philippines as a whole.
The APO Building Fund. The Road to 100 will be amalgamated by the construction and completion of this edifice of Leadership, Friendship, and Service. This has been a life-long dream for all of us, regardless of our diverse positions on different issues and concerns that we face regularly as members. Our efforts to build the economic infrastructure for this project are gaining ground. Our call for support is being met with enthusiasm and positive response from donors. More projects are underway to reach our goal to have our own building. Although we can’t promise to see its completion during our term, we have accomplished the hardest part which is laying the groundwork and calling for support from as many identified donors that we could reach out to. The results are promising. We shall march forward and start the actual construction before we turn over leadership to the next set of officers.
“Converging the Strands of Leadership, Friendship, and Service, Intensifying the APO Spirit.” Our theme for the Development Year 2017-2019 represents the hope of our time. We have strengthened the foundation of our leadership by continuing the programs of the past and adding our own to the National Service Programs. We are calling for more ambitious actions among chapters who are our extensions in carrying out these programs. We must continue to act on our good intentions. Moreover, we must focus on what we can do to expand our goodwill to as many project beneficiaries and navigate our challenges successfully.
