Our transactions to survive physically, socially and spiritually are based on our desire for a certainty. Relationships are established to achieve an assurance that is always conditioned by a set of conduct that is mutually expected.<\/p>\n
But as sureness can only be attained to a certain degree, we rested our relationships on trust and our desire for certainty leaned on its integrity.<\/p>\n
The country we live in demands allegiance for the protection of our rights. Our job wants capability for our livelihood. Marriage entails fidelity for the harmony in our homes and Friendship involves constancy for camaraderie and goodwill.<\/p>\n
While these various relationships share similarities in requiring loyalty from both parties to uphold a mutual confidence, Loyalty is what makes our relationship in Alpha Phi Omega different.<\/p>\n
Loyalty in APO is not to support the foundation of trust. It is itself both the foundation where we stand and the standard by which we measure right and wrong.<\/p>\n
Loyalty is the cup we toast in the center of our circle when we sing our song together.<\/p>\n
Loyalty is the focus of our dealings in Alpha Phi Omega not as a requirement but as a quality of relationship. More than an individual trait but as a process by which we are true to ourselves and proper to each other.<\/p>\n
Being loyal is being true and being true is being right and being right to each other is to mutually follow the path of truth.<\/p>\n
The truth should lead us to the totality of decency, goodness, honesty, integrity, virtue and everything in the scout laws…*Righteousness*.<\/p>\n
Our loyalty should give us the necessary order in our fraternal house. That while this fellowship appreciates the individuality of a brother and is a spring of patience, tolerance and understanding, it is also in the path of truth. The truth being always right, being true is doing what is right and giving justice to everybody.<\/p>\n
Our loyalty should be the summation of truth, justice and brotherhood. These are the foundation where leadership, friendship and service should truly stand.<\/p>\n
Our kind of loyalty should not be measured by its weight in the value of cleverness. It was the skillfulness of exacting a dogma from an essay and the cleverness in twisting the truth that made some of us still groping in the dark.<\/p>\n
Our loyalty should be weight but by the strength of character built into us by being with Alpha Phi Omega.<\/p>\n
Our loyalty should make us work daily to do a good turn while striving to be better.<\/p>\n
By being true to the ideals and principles of Alpha Phi Omega should give us the opportunity to make a difference in this world.<\/p>\n
