My brothers and sisters in Alpha Phi Omega,
A Happy 85th Anniversary to everyone on this joyous occasion as our brothers and sisters gather in every part of the country and the globe to commemorate our founding. This year has been especially meaningful for me in many ways as my batch, Blackjacks, Eta 60, recently celebrated our 50th year as members of our beloved fraternity and everywhere I go I am filled with pride to meet brothers and sisters whose fervor for service has never waned even in their golden years. I am likewise filled with hope in meeting our young brothers and sisters and I see the same enthusiasm for service in their eyes that I felt when I first became a brother. On this year, also, you made me Vice President of our Republic and I take this occasion to again thank each and every one of you for your invaluable support in enabling a brother to be of service to more of our countrymen in need.
Of late, public attention has focused on our fraternity and with its newfound prominence greater challenges and expectations have been posed on us. Our response can only be to be more resolute in our efforts in doing what we have always done. Ipagpatuloy at pagibayuhin po natin ang programa ng paglilingkod at makakaasa kayo na kasama ninyo ang Tanggapan ng Pangalawang Pangulo ng Pilipinas sa lahat ng inyong pagpupunyagi. I am confident that with Alpha Phi Omega as a partner, the Office of the Vice President will be able to extend its services in order to effect a meaningful change in the lives of our people.
