*Sta. Rita top cop, 7 others bag JBT award*
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – The quick response to emergency situations even beyond his areas of jurisdiction particularly in typhoon-battered Leyte province has earned Senior Inspector Michael Masangkay (Gamma Eta), Sta. Rita, Pampanga police chief, a special recognition from a prestigious award-giving body, the JBT Group of Companies.
Masangkay received the award during simple rites held at the Wood Grove Park in Barangay Del Carmen here Thursday. Masangkay and a team of rescue and disaster response team voluntarily accompanied Pampanga Vice Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda travelled by land to assist and help other relief agencies in bringing aid to supertyphoon victims in Eastern Visayas.
The group endured an almost two-day travel before they reached their destination and stayed for over a week for relief and rehabilitation mission in Javier, Tolosa, La Paz, Pastrana, Barugo, Capoocan and other nearby towns which were badly hit by Yolanda.
Masangkay deserved the special award, a police officer who responded to the call of duty even beyond his area of responsibility (AOR), the Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) said in a statement. The JBT Group of Companies acknowledges hardworking members of PRO3. It also pays tribute to exemplary performance of the police in Central Luzon. The award-giving business group started giving special recognitions to members of Region 3 police since 2011.
Other awardees include Supt. Dave Poklay, City of Malolos police chief; Senior PCO Category- Supt. Elsa Miranda, Tarlac pólice office; Junior PCO Category: and Inspector Beverlie Allapitan, of the Regional Public Safety Batallion 3 (RSPB3).
Senior Inspector Alexander Reyes, of the Provincial Public Safety Company (PPSC), Nueva Ecija PPO; PNCO Category: PO3 Maria Gerylines Pacubas, Regional Headquarters Service, and PO2 Comet Dumangeng, Pampanga PPO.
The awardees were chosen after several months of stringent screening by the selection board composed of DILG Regional Director Florida Dijan, NAPOLCOM Regional Director Atty. Manuel Pontanal, CHED OIC Virginia Akiate and Msgr. Eugenio Mercado with the Regional Police Community Relations Division as the Secretariat.
Each awardee received cash incentives, plaque and a computer set.
