It was nine decades ago that a fraternal organization dedicated to the principles of Leadership, Friendship and Service was founded in the bricked academic building denominated as Hogg Hall in diminutive Lafayette College in the small town of Easton, Pennsylvania. From its humble beginnings would emerge an international fraternal organization of more than 800 collegiate chapters and 300 alumni associations worldwide.
Amidst the felicitations and celebrations, let us take the advantage of this milestone by reflecting on our vision of ALPHA PHI OMEGA ten years hence.
We envision an Alpha Phi Omega in the pantheon of service organizations worldwide, responsive to the dreams, aspirations and needs of its members, fully supportive of the educational objectives of the college, university and faculty, standing at the forefront in the empowerment and development of the community and an active partner of government in the achievement of its developmental goals.
This vision of a proactive, dynamic and energetic Alpha Phi Omega has inspired the theme for Development Year 2015-17: “Unity and Solidarity in the Time for Greatness.” We stand at the threshold of being even greater because, for the first time in our history, a brother is poised to become the first Alpha Phi Omegan to be President of the Philippines. If this will come to pass, then more opportunities will be opened for us to further promote and advance our service programs.
But we can only achieve our vision if we stand together as one – cognisant of our role in this monumental undertaking and, most important of all, to stand fast in our loyalty to our Fraternity/Sorority and to each other.
CONGRATULATIONS ON THIS OUR 90TH FOUNDATION ANNIVERSARY AND WELCOME TO THE LAST DECADE TOWARDS THE CENTENARY OF ALPHA PHI OMEGA,
May We Always Be,
LUIS PAREDES
National President
